Getting started

Where do I start?

Open the sample project, 412 Rowan Street, from All projects or from Account → Help & feedback → Tutorial: the sample project. It is a made-up job you can click through without an Account. For your own job, tap + New project on All projects; Start here in Live then walks you through five steps: Upload plans, Build the 3D, Mark permits, Draft the schedule and Share with owner.

Do I need an Account?

No, but without one your projects stay on the device or browser where you created them. With an Account, projects and files are the same on iPhone, iPad and the web, and an owner link you publish stays online until you unpublish it.

Live

What is Live?

Live is the project’s home: the job in 3D at any date. Drag the timeline or press Play to see the drops, the crews, the sidewalk shed and the roof protection day by day. The chips above it (Permits, Week, Drops, Blocked) open the section that owns each number, and the Site brief says what was done, what is next, what is blocked and what needs a decision. Edit model takes you to Building → Model.

Where do the numbers in Live come from?

From the rest of the project: permits from Schedule, progress from what is marked in Field, change orders from Contract. Live never edits anything itself, so if a number looks wrong, fix it in the section it comes from.

Sharing with the owner

How do I share the job with the owner?

In Live, tap Share. Turn on the layers the owner should see: 3D, Brief, Photos, Docs and Inspections (3D, Brief and Photos are on by default). View as owner shows the page exactly as the owner will see it. Publish creates the link and Copy link copies it. The owner link shows your company logo and colors and your site people’s names and roles, but never the Contract section, prices, amounts, notes or phone numbers.

How do I protect the link or take it offline?

In Live → Share, open Owner link settings (or tap the PIN pill in the address bar). Turn on a 4-digit access code: the owner types it once per browser, and New code locks out the old one. Unpublish owner link takes the page offline; Publish puts it back at the same address. Deleting the project also unpublishes it. A link shared without an Account stops working 120 days after its last update.

Which photos does the owner see?

In Field → Reports, tap up to three photos to choose them for the owner; until you choose, the owner sees the three most recent. The Photos layer must be on in Live → Share.

Weekly report

How do I make the weekly report?

On All projects, tap Weekly report (next to + New project) and pick the projects to include. You get a table of all of them and then a page for each one: status against the schedule, the drops, the week in the field with photos, the next two weeks, inspections, the contract and change orders, and permits with their expiration dates. Share it as one PDF or copy it into an email. In a project’s Live, Weekly report in the Site brief gives the same page for that project alone.

Is the weekly report the same as the owner link?

No. The weekly report is a document you send yourself, and it can include contract figures. The owner link never shows the contract. Review the report before you send it.

Building

How do I add the drawings and build the 3D?

In Building → Plans, drag in the engineer’s drawing set (PDF) or tap Upload plans. The sheets are sorted into roof plan, elevations and details, and a copy goes to Files. With a roof plan and elevations, Build the 3D opens Model, where the building and its drops are drawn from the sheets and you can adjust them. Building from vector drawings uses no AI; reading sheets with AI shows its price first.

Where are my files?

In Building → Files. With an Account, every document and site photo of the project is kept in your Laboro cloud storage and is the same on iPhone, iPad and the web. A file moved to the trash is permanently deleted after 30 days.

Schedule

How does Schedule work?

Schedule starts with what must be filed. 1 Permits lists the permits the job needs; mark each one filed or approved. A permit still pending filing blocks the drops that need it, and Live shows it as Blocked. Special inspections and Submittals are in the gray Advanced line. 2 Master is the schedule by drop, drafted from 7 questions and shown as a Gantt chart you can print to PDF. Next 2 weeks is the short-term look-ahead.

How do weather days work?

Laboro reads public U.S. government weather data for the project location every day. In Schedule → Master, the Weather days row lists the workdays with wind over 30 mph (gusts count) or with rain, drizzle, snow or storms. Add as non-working day makes it a day off in the schedule; Remove undoes it. Nothing moves until you accept a day. Days under 40 °F are flagged for mortar but never counted.

Field

How do I record progress?

Field → Inspections shows one card per drop. Mark progress opens today’s drop: the engineer’s tags to verify, tags added in the field, quantities, notes and photos, and a PDF report. You can send the foreman a link to the drop’s page. What is marked in Field is what moves Live.

Where do photos, reports and notes go?

Field → Reports holds the dated photo reports: + Report adds photos (on iPhone and iPad it opens the camera), a note and the drops. Photos go to the project’s cloud files and to Live. The engineer’s field report reader and the Weekly log are in the gray Advanced line. Field → Notes keeps notes tied to a drop and a day; on the web, the microphone button lets you dictate.

Contract

How do quantities and change orders work?

Contract → Bid form holds the contract lines; once you lock the bid, it is the contract. Quantities & COs compares what the field marked in each drop with the contract quantity of each repair code. A line over the contract becomes a change order with Create change order, with the field marks and photos as backup. Change orders & billing, in the gray Advanced line, keeps the change-order log and pay applications, and Forecast shows where the job is heading.

Does the owner see the contract?

No. Contract is never part of the owner link. When a change order is waiting for the owner, the owner link’s Brief can say so by its number, without any amount.

Company and team

How do I add our company logo and colors?

Open Account → Company & team to upload your logo and choose or adjust your company colors. They appear on your owner links. Upload only a logo you have the right to use.

How do I add site people, and who sees their phone numbers?

In Account → Company & team, add the names, roles and phone numbers of your site people (PM, superintendent, safety, foremen). Assign them to a project from the project’s gear → People on this project. The Company team can see their contact details; the owner link shows names and roles only, never phone numbers.

Who can open a company project?

Its creator, the company owner, the company’s admins and the people added in People on this project, as PM or PM assistant. A PM and a PM assistant can do the same things. Only the company owner, an admin and the creator can delete the project for everyone.

Plans and billing

What plans are there?

Three monthly plans, bought at laboro.nyc: Starter at $49 ($25 of AI usage a month, 1 active project, 25 GB), Standard at $99 ($55, 3 active projects, 50 GB) and Pro at $199 ($120, unlimited projects, 100 GB). Paying for the year costs ten months: $490, $990 or $1,990. Every plan has every section. Prices are before sales tax.

How are AI readings charged?

Reading a plan set, reading elevation sheets for the 3D model, reading an engineer’s field report and checking submittals use AI. Each reading shows its price before it runs, is never charged more than that quote, and is not charged if it fails. It comes out of your plan’s monthly usage first, which resets each month and does not carry over, and then from Credits ($1 each, which never expire). Live, the owner link, the schedule, Field, Contract and the weekly report are not charged per use.

How do I buy Credits?

With an active plan: on the web in Account → Plan & usage → Buy credits, in packs of $25, $50 or $100 (on the web each pack adds 10% more: $27.50, $55 or $110), or as credit packs in the iPhone and iPad app.

How does the company plan work?

$149 per project manager seat per month, with a minimum of 3 seats, bought on the web by the company owner in Account → Company & team. Each seat adds $100 of monthly usage to a balance the team shares, and 100 GB of storage.

How do I change plan or cancel?

On the web: Account → Plan & usage → Manage subscription. Moving to a bigger plan applies right away (you pay the difference for the days left); moving to a smaller one applies at your renewal. App Store subscriptions: Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for.

Can I get a refund?

If you ask within 14 days of your first payment for a plan on the web, we refund it in full and close the plan (once per Account). Otherwise partial periods are not refunded (except where required by law) and Credits are non-refundable, but billing errors and duplicate charges are always refunded: email support@laboro.nyc. App Store purchases are refunded by Apple. See section 6 of the Terms of Service.

Projects and files

How much storage do I have?

10 GB without a plan, 25 GB with Starter, 50 GB with Standard and 100 GB with Pro. Standard and Pro can add 500 GB for $20 a month. The company plan gives 100 GB per seat. Account → Plan & usage shows how much you are using.

What happens when I delete a project?

Open the project’s gear and choose Delete project. When you’re signed in, it is removed from your Account and your other devices, its owner link stops working right away, and its cloud files and drawings are permanently deleted, normally within one day. This can’t be undone. In a Company, only the project’s creator, the company owner or an admin can delete it for everyone.

Privacy and your data

How do I delete my Account?

Open Account → Profile and select Delete account (under Advanced). Your web subscriptions are cancelled immediately, with no refund of the current period. Laboro can’t cancel an App Store subscription, so cancel it with Apple first. See section 10 of the Privacy Policy.

How do I get a copy of my data, or delete my problem reports?

Email info@laboro.nyc from the email address on your Account. Problem reports are otherwise deleted automatically after 12 months.

Something isn’t working.

Use Account → Help & feedback → Send feedback in the app, or laboro.nyc/feedback. A reading that fails is not charged; for very large PDFs, try the original PDF instead of a scan, or split the set.
